Anti-Viral Cleaning For Your Car

There’s cleaning your car and there’s really cleaning your car. Citroen, Vauxhall and Peugeot have all announced that they’ll be offering drivers anti-viral cleaning services to help keep cars free of coronavirus. Called the ‘Complete Anti-Bacterial Refresh’ service, it includes a comprehensive clean of the air conditioning system and the remove of bad odours. Pollen filters will also be removed and replaced, helping to prevent the build up of dust and pollen. Technicians will carry out a comprehensive 29-point health check, too; covering everything from engine drive belts to tyres. Finally, cars will be thoroughly disinfected both on the outside and the inside before being returned to their owners. The service costs £99 and can be booked at Citroen, Vauxhall and Peugeot dealerships.

All of these brands are owned by Groupe PSA, which says it’s offering the service due to the fact that lockdown restrictions are now being relaxed. It says it aims to reduce the chances of any technical faults after cars have been left stationary for prolonged periods of time; all whilst ensuring drivers are travelling in a clean environment. The company added that all of its employees will be following social distancing procedures and that it’ll accommodate for contactless drop-offs.

How Dirty Is Your Car?

Your car is much dirtier than you think, regardless of how much polish you throw at it. Research has revealed that the interior of a car can actually be dirtier than a toilet seat. Some cars possess more than 3,826 units of bacteria per square inch. For perspective, that’s 19-times more than the amount found on an average lavatory. Germs and bacteria can thrive on the hard surfaces found inside vehicles. Given that the average Brit spends nine hours in their car a week, there’s also plenty of opportunity for germs to build up; and for drivers and passengers to be exposed to them. This is why it’s so important that interiors are thoroughly cleaned and regularly; especially during the coronavirus outbreak.
