Volkswagen’s Golf 8 Prices Have Been Revealed And Start From £23,875
It’s the next milestone in the life of the iconic Volkswagen Golf. You can now order the MK 8 for prices starting at £23,875…
Orders Are Open
Finally, orders are open for the next iteration of Volkswagen’s iconic golf; the Mk 8. Which means you can soon get your hands on the (hopefully) best version of the world’s most famous hatchback. To begin with, it’ll just be available at two trim variants. These are the ‘Life’ and ‘Style’ options. Moving forward, drivers will also be able to choose between an R-Line and sportier GTI, GTD, GTE and R versions. An estate version will also roll off of production lines in the not-too-distant future.
Engine Options
Engine options sit at just two to begin with and include a diesel and petrol option with two power outputs each. These are 1.5 TSI 130 / 150 and 2.0 TDI 115 / 150. In the future, you’ll be able to choose from 1.0-litre TSI plus 1.0 eTSI and 1.5 eTSI 48V mild hybrids. If you want to go electric, it looks like VW would prefer you to opt for the upcoming ID.3.
Life Or Style?
In the UK, the standard Life trim is expected to be the most popular option. This includes 16-inch alloy wheels, parking sensors, auto-wipers and LED headlights. You’ll also get 10-colour ambient interior lighting if you go for this option. Not too bad. Keyless start is included, but you’ll need to fork out an addition £400 for keyless entry. If you go for the Style trim, you’ll get 17-inch alloys, LED ‘plus’ headlights, wooden inserts on the dashboard and sports comfort seats.
Inside, all variants of the MK 8 have a 10-inch digital touchscreen. Discover Pro Navigation is also standard kit. Volkswagen is also making history as the world’s first ‘mainstream’ car brand to include Car2X technology. This effectively allows the Golf to ‘communicate’ with other vehicles, sharing information about road conditions and hazards. You can fork out an additional £625 for heads-up display, £875 for VW IQ.Light matrix system for headlights and £950 for Dynamic Chassis Control adaptive damping.
All variants of the latest Golf will also include semi-autonomous functions. Volkswagen says these will allow the car to accelerate, brake and steer on motorways at speeds (where legal) up to 130 mph. You can also expect a healthy serving of the latest safety innovations.
