Can a locksmith make a car key without the original?
Yes. In most instances, regardless of the type of key, or vehicle make and model, our locksmiths can cut and program a new car key without the original.
How long does it take to replace a key?
Once a locksmith arrives on-site to replace your key, depending on the complexity of the job, it can take between 30 minutes and 2 hours to cut and program a new key.
Does my key need to be programmed?
Most keys today are transponder keys, and these need to be programmed to your vehicle to work. Since 1992 all vehicles have been manufactured with immobilised systems that require keys to be programmed. However, in some instances, vehicles manufactured before 1992 will use simple metal keys that do not require programming.
